About the lab
I’m Brian Foster — senior UI engineer by day, experimental cheese scientist by night. This site is the messy lab notebook: current software, dead ends, dormant projects, physical experiments, old portfolio pieces, AI toys, and the occasional rant.
- Rabin Forest — AI-powered portfolio

Projects
Current
AskGWINnettChat-first civic info for Gwinnett County — taxes, parks, traffic, meetings, and more, with sources attached.
stilltrueYour tests check your code. stilltrue checks your facts — weekly drift alarms so curated data doesn’t silently rot.
CallmataPrivate family video rooms — tap to call, push + SMS alerts, self-register with your own code.
Lost CorridorsBackrooms-inspired browser maze — liminal halls, WebGL, and a world that keeps growing.
TellspinnersAI bedtime stories with illustrations, narration, and choose-your-own adventures.
Rabin ForestAI-powered portfolio — ask about Brian’s stack, what he’s shipped, or whether he’s available. RabinAI runs on hardware in his basement.
Failed
Popup BookfailedAmbitious interactive popup-book experiment that sprawled faster than the mechanisms could keep up. Shelved, not forgotten.
Mall SimulatorfailedWalk mall storefronts from different eras — 1987, 1998, 2015. The idea never really materialized.
Dormant
Find Me PlacesdormantMeetup-location finder for two or three people on a map. Past PoC — the server is offline.
Atari ExperimentsdormantMine Drop and other Atari 2600 experiments — play the browser build here.
AI services
Capabilities from bfoster-services — the backend behind Rabin Forest and related experiments. The specimen cooker above is the live AI toy on this site.
It does not call Gemini or DALL·E. Specimens are drawn on a mini PC in the basement running our own SDXL Lightning checkpoint. One job at a time. If the box is asleep, cooking fails honestly. That is the point.
Basement SDXLOwn SDXL Lightning on a mini PC in the house. The specimen cooker uses this — not a rented image API. If the machine is off, the cook fails out loud.
RabinAI assistantAsk about Brian on the Rabin Forest homepage. RabinAI answers from the basement box; Gemini takes the turn if the box is cold.
Subject chatbotsThree bots, one topic — Gemini, OpenAI, and RabinAI talk it out, then wrap up.
RabinAI ImagesLive prompt-to-image on the Rabin Forest playground, drawn by the same basement mini PC. About half a minute. Nothing is saved.
Fact CheckPaste a claim and a source — a judge model rules whether the source actually backs the sentence. The trust layer behind AskGWINnett, packaged as stilltrue.
TTS / read-aloudOpenAI narration used by Tellspinners and related story tools.
Odometer VerificationComputer-vision mileage verification for warranty claims — production AI work on Rev Protection Plans.
